Guy Uppiah -- Keep Vinyl Alive

You probably don't know who Guy Uppiah is. The man was a DJ legend in Melbourne almost a decade ago. Shit, maybe two decades ago! God knows where he is now. Probably having dreams about Freakazoid. I used to catch a few sets of his at a club called Checkpoint Charlie back in the late 80s. All disco, with a little bit of a new style called House seeping through.

Check this mix. Strictly rhythm, strictly vinyl.

Anyone who drops Alison Limerick's "Where Love Lives" is alright by me.

Slow Ass Jolene (Soggy Disco Biscuit Edit) -- Dolly Parton

A few weeks back, I stumbled across a new verison of Dolly Parton's "Jolene". Not that new, really. Someone had come up with the idea of slowing it down from 45rpm to 33rpm. And the result was amazing. It now sounded like some hipster alt-country dude singing about his gay lover. Awesome!

So I made a little edit of it to make it a bit more DJ friendly and something I could use in my set.

Enjoy!

Soggy Disco Biscuit -- Volume 30

No tracklisting this month. See if you can guess all the artists and songs here.

Summer is about to come around down here in Melbourne so this month I put together a bit of a mixtape demo. I'm gonna take it around the pubs and bars around town to see if I can get another Yacht Rock night going like I did last year.

So, if you own a pub or bar in Melbourne, drop me a message on the facebook page.
