Genuine Fraud -- Soft Hits

Soft Rock is still smashing it on the Soggy Bloggy! If you've put together a mixtape, then send it through and I'll post it.

That's exactly what Genuine Fraud did with this double compilation. Youre going to dig it. If you caught one of my sets at the Marquis of Lorne, then a lot of these tracks and edits will be very familiar to you. The Boz Scaggs edit, The Dirty Dancing remix, the Lemon Jelly rework, The Michael McDonald extended mix. They all get a playing in my sets.

What I am really digging though, apart from some expert mixing and blending, is his own edits. I would love to get my hands on the Tina Turner rework.

Hit play and get smooth!

Whateverest

I've got something a little different today. Nothing like mixing it up to keep the punters guessing. Here's a movie starring Todd Terje, about Todd Terje and his track Inspector Norse. You may have heard of it. It's pretty big around these parts.

More to the point, it's about the guy who inspired the song Inspector Norse. His name is Marius, and he lives in the most depressing, isolated place on the planet. A Gen-Y didn't I become famous overnight wash-up, all he has left to turn to is disco.

There's nothing more depressing than manufacturing drugs from some dodgy internet recipe, and dancing in your living room by yourself to the song that is your namesake.

Is this a documentary or a mockumentary? Who cares, it's pretty bleak.

Hit play, yo!

The Gorillaz -- Complete Discography

2013 looks like it's going to be a good year for long overdue album releases. I've heard that Empire of the Sun will be releasing their second album this year, so that's only 4 years between drinks. And Daft Punk. You may remember them from 2005 when they released their last album "Human After All" and then spent the next 1 million years touring. They're also putting out their next album this year.

But one group who won't be is The Gorillaz. What a combo-meal they were back in the naughties (it still doesn't sound right, that. The oh-ohs?) Huge, game-changing albums. Post-millenium videos. Cartoon beatz with cargo-pant styles and goggles for everyone. Get the cool shoe-shine? We sure did. I miss them.

So, while your waiting for those new releases, have a listen to every Gorillaz album. On me!

Soggy Disco Biscuit -- Volume 23

I found some good tunes over the summer and thought I'd mash them all together and make a tasty mixtape for February. A lot more nu-disco this month, and many of these tracks have been championed on this blog over the last few weeks.

We start with a Busta Funk ripper, and it's a track that kinda sets the tone for the whole hour. Some Toro Y Moi, because I'll get to see him do his thing in March. Then, into some really cool edits of some old tracks, and some questionable remixes of some not so old tracks. A tune that was sent to me by a really interesting producer in Japan. He's sent me another, so stay tuned for that soon.  And to finish, a classic.

Get it on, and let's go!
